telephones and other electronic devices
Telephones are available for emergencies. Students must receive permission from a staff member to use the telephones. Students should make arrangements for transportation, going home with friends, etc. prior to coming to school. Misuse of telephone usage will result in loss of privileges.
Classroom phones are available for usage with the permission of the teacher only. A payphone is available in the lobby for use after office hours. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not to be used or carried during the school day. If a student brings a cell phone or electronic device, it must be turned off and left in the locker during school hours. RMS is not responsible for lost, stolen or broken lectronic devices.
hall passes
Students are expected to be in class and in their assigned 6th, 7th, or 8th grade wing before school (unless eating breakfast) and during core classes. Students who are in the halls during class time must have a pass from a staff member. It is the student's responsibility to obtain a pass before leaving the classroom. Furthermore, students must have a pass to go into any of the classroom wings that are not his/ her grade level. For example, 6th graders must have a pass to go into the 7th or 8th grade wing for any reason. Failure to obtain a pass may result in disciplinary action.
searches
The administrators in charge of supervising students during the regular school hours and during school-related activities are authorized in the course of carrying out their duty of maintaining school discipline to conduct a search of a student's person including the student's locker or any other area on school premises if the administrator has a reasonable belief that a student has stolen property, or has an illegal substance or weapon on his/ her person, in his/ her school locker or some other school property, or has reason to believe the student has violated any law, board policy, or building regulation.
