School District 25 Policy
Adopted: April 9, 1985
Pupils in the various schools shall be promoted from grade to grade according to the rules and regulations of the school as approved by the Superintendent.
No retention shall be decided upon without considering achievement, age of the pupil, social and mental growth, and recommendation of the teacher. However, the decision shall be made by the Principal only after consultation between the teacher, Principal, parent, guidance counselor and such other specialized personnel as may be called upon to discuss the situation.
Such decision by the Principal to promote or retain a student may be appealed to the Superintendent for his/ her final determination.
